Quick & Foolproof Easy Pizza Dough Recipe:

This easy pizza dough recipe yields a chewy, flavorful crust, perfect for topping with your favorite ingredients.

  • Total Time: 2 hours (including rising time)
  • Yield: 4 pizzas 1x

Ingredients

Scale

  • Use 600g (equivalent to 4 cups) of either bread flour or pizza flour
  • 2 teaspoons (6 grams) of instant or quick-rise yeast
  • 2.5 tsp (15g) salt
  • 4 tsp (20g) white sugar
  • 4 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 330 ml (1 1/3 cups) warm water
  • For preparation: 1 tablespoon of additional flour and 2 teaspoons of extra olive oil.
  • Toppings: 130g (1 1/3 cups) mozzarella cheese, 1/4 cup pizza sauce per pizza, toppings of choice

Instructions

  1. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a spacious mixing bowl, combine 3½ cups of bread flour, 2 teaspoons of instant yeast, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1 teaspoon of sugar. Combine these ingredients thoroughly until they are well mixed.
  2. Add Wet Ingredients: Gradually pour in 1 ½ cups of warm water (about 110°F or 43°C) and 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Use a wooden spoon or spatula to mix until a cohesive dough begins to form.
  3. Knead the dough: by placing it on a floured surface and working it firmly for about 10 minutes, or until it becomes smooth and elastic.. This step is essential for gluten development, which contributes to the crust’s wonderful texture.
  4. Allow to Rise: Transfer the kneaded dough to a lightly oiled bowl, making sure it is coated on all sides. Cover the bowl with a damp cloth or plastic wrap and let it rise in a warm, draft-free space for approximately 1 hour, or until it has doubled in volume.
  5. Preheat the Oven: While the dough is rising, preheat your oven to 250°C (482°F), or the highest setting your oven allows. This elevated temperature is essential for creating a crispy crust.
  6. Prepare the Dough: After the dough has risen, gently punch it down to release any air bubbles. Divide it into four equal pieces. Roll out each piece on a floured surface to your preferred shape and thickness, whether you want it thin and crispy or thick and chewy.
  7. Assemble Your Pizza: Transfer the rolled-out dough to a pizza stone or a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Add your favorite pizza sauce, a generous layer of cheese, and an array of toppings, from classic pepperoni to fresh veggies.
  8. Bake to Perfection: Place your pizzas in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbling and lightly browned.
  9. Enjoy: Once baked, remove the pizzas from the oven and let them cool for a minute before slicing.Serve hot and enjoy your homemade pizza creation!

Notes

  • The dough rises better in a warm environment. If using regular yeast, dissolve it in warm water before mixing.
  • For optimal results, use freshly grated mozzarella cheese.
